Through SEED, StyleWeek promotes student designers

Posted

StyleWeek’s foremost mission is promoting emerging designers. An important part of that is including students who are just getting their start in the fashion world. SEED, a student design runway competition, has been a part of StyleWeek January for the past two years. This season, that will extend past garments to accessory design for the first time. At this August’s runway event, StyleWeek will present SEED for Accessory Design.

The competition, done in partnership with Rhode Island College, will showcase the jewelry and accessory designs of RIC students and alumni. The works will be on display in the Accessory Showcase for the entirety of StyleWeek August. A panel of industry professionals will judge the competition based on creativity, material manipulation and wearability. Another New England artist, Orny Beltrame of The Glass House, designed the cases that the works will be displayed in. Browse before or after the runway shows to decide which is your favorite work. For more information on the participating designers, visit the StyleWeek website.
