The Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) sets the stage for young talent to flourish through its 2024 ARTS Scholarships program. This initiative, supported by The Textron Charitable Trust, Ocean State Charities Trust, WPRI 12, and the PPAC’s Annual Fund donors, is dedicated to fostering the artistic growth of Rhode Island's middle school students.
Since 1996, the ARTS Scholarships program has empowered aspiring artists, funded by proceeds from the Greater Providence Gospel Fest. This year, 60-80 scholarships worth up to $600 each are available for students in grades 6-8. These scholarships aim to enable students to pursue summer arts education opportunities aligned with their passions. PPAC’s Outreach and Engagement initiatives, including the ARTS Scholarships, connect students, educators, and families with the arts.
The scholarship program is not only a financial aid but also a tribute to the enduring legacy of the arts in the community. Memorial scholarships, backed by the DePietro, O’Donnell, and Ragosta families, honor their loved ones' artistic legacies. Eligible applicants – Rhode Island residents in grades 6-8 – must demonstrate artistic interest and financial need. The selection process, overseen by a dedicated sub-committee, seeks applicants whose aspirations align with the scholarship's mission.
With a March 20, 2024 deadline, PPAC encourages eligible young artists to apply. The ARTS Scholarships program offers not just financial aid but also a pathway to artistic growth and opportunity. Applications and additional information are available online at PPAC’s scholarships website.
