Tattoo machines will be buzzing and creativity will be on full display as the Providence Tattoo Convention takes over the Rhode Island Convention Center from August 1-3. The weekend-long event will transform the space into a living gallery, showcasing the talents of hundreds of tattoo artists, from local legends to nationally known names.
Presented by Pleasure in Pain Tattoo, the convention marks the first large-scale tattoo event in Providence in more than a decade. “We are so excited to bring a Tattoo Convention back to Providence this summer,” said organizers Jeff and Jessica Burt. “Providence is the Creative Capital, and home to such amazing artists of all backgrounds. That’s why it’s the perfect place to host our convention.”
Live tattooing and piercings will be happening throughout the weekend, alongside artist seminars, tattoo contests, and nonstop entertainment. Special guests include Ink Master alums Dani Ryan, a second-place winner from Season 12 and tattooist at Ninth Realm Gallery in Warren, and Elton “LT” Duarte of East Providence, who appeared on Season 5.
Beyond the buzzing needles, attendees can explore a packed schedule featuring burlesque and sideshows, live music, a pinup pageant, and vendor booths offering everything from art prints to handmade goods. One standout attraction is a recreated replica of the iconic Buddy’s Tattoo Shop, originally founded in Newport. Tattoo artist Marilyn Mott Tolleson, daughter of Buddy Mott, will be selling her artwork and signing copies of her book Buddy’s Tattoo Shop, Keeping America Beautiful.
“Whether you are a tattoo artist, an art lover, tattoo collector or simply curious about the art of tattooing and want to have a good time, we invite you to join us,” said Jeff Burt. “There is something for everyone here. You are not going to want to miss this.” For tickets and full details, visit the ProvidenceTattooConvention.com.
