The Ocean Mist
There are beach bars, and then there’s The Ocean Mist in Matunuck. It’s not just any beach bar. It’s the beach bar. It’s the kind of come-as-you-are, good-vibes-only place that you find on vacation and never want to leave. The waves crash under the deck, and the whole place is regularly filled with live jams from cover bands and musicians performing original music. The Labor Day Weekend roster includes a Talking Heads tribute, a Bob Marley tribute and Badfish, which is the Sublime tribute. It’s also open well after beach season ends, with performers like Steve Smith and the Nakeds performing into the fall, and music scheduled every weekend year-round.
The Narragansett Cafe
It’s hard to put your finger on the best part of The Narragansett Cafe in Jamestown. Sure, it’s a low-key neighborhood bar that serves good food and affordable drinks. Sure, it’s open 365 days a year. Sure, they have a killer Sunday afternoon Blues, Bloodies and Brunch. But on top of all that, The Ganny has live music every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, plus Sunday afternoons. And it’s not just any music - it’s bands from all over New England that deliver rock and the blues, the kind of live and loud music you can’t help but dance to, even if you don’t think you’re the dancing type. Maybe the best part is this: there’s never a cover.
