One Less Worry, a Providence-based nonprofit dedicated to eliminating food insecurity across Rhode Island, will host its annual fundraising gala on Saturday, October 17, at 6pm at Saints Sahag and Mesrob Armenian Church, 70 Jefferson Street. Since launching in October 2021, One Less Worry has served nearly 30,000 meals to individuals and families facing food insecurity. In January, the organization expanded its operations and now distributes approximately 600 meals every Tuesday and Friday from Ebenezer Baptist Church in Providence. Founded by Nellie Gaye Anderson, who funded the organization’s early operations personally with her retirement savings, One Less Worry has grown into one of Providence’s most active food distribution programs. The gala hopes to raise funds toward two goals: securing a permanent building for food preparation and storage, and purchasing a mobile food truck to expand distribution across Rhode Island.
