“Everywhere we go, even if we go somewhere for a three-day weekend, we are thinking about flowers,” confesses Kathryn Kocab Fletcher of the adoration for flowers she shares with her sister and business partner, Jacqueline Galligan. Together in 2001, they started CEDAR EDGE FLORAL in Richmond; in 2007 the farm became fully certified organic, and has since expanded to three locations, including Exeter and Foster.
“We grow and sell certified organic blooms retail and wholesale from our farmstand and online store. We’re floral designers, designing arrangements for weddings,” says Kathryn. The pair host seasonal farm tours, workshops, a flower subscription, and this summer will be offering PYO at their Richmond location.
Both sisters grew up farming, worked on farms in college, have full-time jobs apart from the farm, and admit “our flower farm is a labor of love. Each year brings new challenges, flowers, and a fresh start. No two days – or blooms – are the same, but a constant is our love of the outdoors, family, work/mom-life balance, and our flowers brightening someone’s day.”
