Imago offering a workshop on COLLAGE portraits

Posted by imagouser

Imago Foundation for the Arts (IFA) is offering a one-day workshop on COLLAGE led by IFA exhibiting artist Howard Windham and Brett Day Windham, his artist daughter, on Saturday, May 11, from 2-5 p.m. at Imago Gallery, 36 Market Street, in Warren, RI.

“Face the Music” will provide a brief introduction to collage with the presenters sharing examples of their work and different approaches. Spend an afternoon cutting paper with this pair of father/daughter collage dynamos. Explore the mind-expanding potential of making faces in collage. Play with color, tone, texture, perspective, and reality.

The workshop leaders will supply materials, but feel free to bring your own – provided they are suitable for smaller-scale tabletop work. Each person is welcome to make up to four works, sizes varying from 9x12 through 11x18 inches, roughly. Challenge yourself to try a new approach, work collaboratively, or alone. All levels are welcome!

Howard Windham is a Rhode Island School of Design graduate and professor emeritus from UMass/Dartmouth, where he completed his MFA. His collages, paintings, and sculptures have been exhibited throughout New England. Brett Day Windham holds an MFA from RISD, and like her father, has exhibited her collages, sculptures, installations, and cyanotypes in numerous places.

Artists of all levels and experience are welcome and asked to register in advance at: https://www.imagofoundation4art.org/collage-workshop-form or stop by the gallery during regular hours to register in person. The fee for the workshop is $55 for the general public and $45 for IFA members.
