A Blackstone River Cruise and Patio Dinner Make the Perfect Central Falls Evening

From the Saturday Evening Serenity Cruise to fresh ceviche at Shark's Peruvian Cuisine, this local pairing deserves a spot on your summer list

By this point in the summer, dinner reservations can start to feel a little predictable. A recent evening in Central Falls offered a welcome change of pace. My coworker, our partners, and I spent 50 minutes floating down the Blackstone River before walking just a few steps to Shark's Peruvian Cuisine for ceviche and cocktails on the patio. Turns out, one of the easiest date nights of the season required moving the car exactly zero times.

Our evening started aboard Explorer River Tours' Saturday Evening Serenity Cruise, departing from Central Falls Landing. Unlike the organization's narrated Sunday tours, this 50-minute cruise is all about slowing down. There's no guide sharing historical facts, just soft music, calm water, and the kind of quiet that's hard to come by this time of year. Guests are welcome to bring their own drinks, so we settled in, chatted, and watched the shoreline drift by. Every so often, a turtle slipped into the river or a great blue heron glided overhead, gentle reminders that the Blackstone has a surprisingly peaceful side.

Before we knew it, we were back at the dock, and instead of calling it a night, we simply walked next door.

Shark's Peruvian Cuisine has been a Central Falls staple for more than 36 years, and its outdoor patio felt like the natural extension of the evening. We ordered a round of house margaritas along with Shark's signature piña colada before sharing the Ceviche de Mariscos. Marinated in bright citrus with herbs and spices, the fresh seafood was served with sweet potatoes, onions, and corn, striking the perfect balance of refreshing, tangy, and satisfying. It was exactly what you want after an hour on the water, especially with a cocktail in hand and good company around the table.

What made the evening memorable wasn't that either stop was over the top. It was how effortlessly they fit together. One moment we were watching the sun reflect off the river, and the next we were lingering over dinner without ever thinking about traffic, parking, or where to go next.

By the end of the evening, we all agreed we'd found a combination worth repeating. The Serenity Cruise set the pace, Shark's kept the evening going, and neither required much planning at all.
