The Providence Children’s Museum (PCM) is set to become a center of excitement and learning during the upcoming February school vacation. In an announcement that has families eagerly anticipating the break, PCM has confirmed extended hours and a packed schedule of special activities, ensuring that the museum will be a go-to destination for a week of educational fun.

From February 17-24, the museum will open its doors to a flurry of events designed to engage and delight visitors of all ages. Caroline Payson, executive director of PCM, expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming festivities: "We're excited to offer extended hours and a diverse range of programming that promises a week filled with joy for all our visitors, including the grownups!"

The week-long celebration of learning and play will commence on February 17 with an interactive event hosted by the Society of Women Engineers, where families can discover the five branches of engineering. Following this, Mad Science of southern MA and RI will captivate audiences with two shows on February 19, demonstrating the principles of physics through Newton’s Laws of Motion.

Music lovers will be treated to a special performance by Rock-a-Baby on February 20, promising a lively singalong session filled with dance and joy. The entertainment continues with The Stupendous Mr. Magichead, who is set to perform a hilariously wacky magic show on February 22 that promises laughter for all attendees.

One of the highlights of the week is the appearance of Karyn Parsons, the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star turned children's book author, who will be sharing her storytelling talent on February 23. Parsons' visit, part of the Read & Play Every Day program, will not only include a free children's book for families but also reading sessions and educational activities in collaboration with Reach Out and Read Rhode Island.

To round off the week, PCM will honor Black History Month on February 24 with storytelling performances by Raffini from the RI Black Storytellers, providing a cultural experience that enriches the museum's diverse offerings.
