Shopping Works Up an Appetite

Tickle’s Shop is a destination unlike any other. Just ten minutes from Providence on the Seekonk/Swansea line, Tickle’s is a gift shop that’s so much more than a gift shop. The unique store sells clothing and jewelry, designer handbags, gorgeous home decor and hostess/wedding gifts, and more holiday inspiration than you can imagine. Tickle’s, opened by Jack and Lynn Tickle over 25 years ago, is also home to the new Lolo’s Cafe. Inside the store, where Tickle’s Tea Room used to be, Lolo’s serves coffee and tea, freshly baked goodies, sandwiches, soup, salad, quiches and smoothies. It’s the perfect way to stop and recharge after your retail therapy, or to run in and grab lunch on the go.

The Aviary

A little less than two years ago, Jack and Lynn opened The Aviary, a gorgeous restaurant next door to Tickle’s. The Aviary, under Chef James Weare and General Manager Jen Vieira, serves lunch and dinner every day. While the decor is beautiful – the bar area is hung with sparkling lights and antique bird cages – the restaurant has a fun and casual vibe and offers a wide range of entrees from burgers to filet mignon. The bar is a great place to enjoy one of many appetizers like pulled pork nachos, a hummus plate, calamari or pizza. This year, they have added a fire pit to the scenic patio. Sit, eat and enjoy an oasis outside the city.

Afternoon Delight: Every afternoon from 3-6pm, The Aviary offers half price appetizers throughout the restaurant.
