As summer winds down, the excitement at 195 District Park is just beginning. This August, the park buzzes with music, movies, movement, and even mimes – the perfect excuse to spend a delightful day out in the Creative Capital.

Amy the Mime

Catch Amy Beth Parravano, AKA Amy the Mime, delighting audiences with interactive performances. Her act, set amidst colorful pop-up play pieces, is a hit with all ages. August 11 and 25, 11am-3pm

Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival

Celebrate the 42nd year of Flickers with screenings of Oscar-qualifying short films. Enjoy narrative, documentary, and animated shorts under the stars. For screening information, visit Film-Festival.org. August 8-10, 8-9:30pm

Hula Hooping and Spin Jam

Join Jessie Jewels for a fun-filled hula hooping session that combines fitness, dance, and play. With plenty of hoops to borrow, this free series is perfect for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Wednesdays through August 21, 6-7pm

Summer Screenings Under the Stars: Comm-YOU-nity

Bring your picnic baskets and lawn chairs for a magical evening of films exploring the theme of community, hosted by Providence Children’s Film Festival. The Providence Flea

Every Sunday, the west side of 195 District Park transforms into a vibrant outdoor market. The Providence Flea features an array of vintage vendors, artists, and food trucks, offering a perfect opportunity to shop local and connect with creatives. Sundays, 10am-3pm

Sunset Celebration with Providence Drum Troupe

The Providence Drum Troupe, a diverse group of illuminated mobile drummers, dancers, and circus performers, takes over the park on Tuesdays. This interactive performance invites audiences of all ages to dance and celebrate in a lively display of harmony and community spirit. Tuesdays, 6-8pm

The Rainbow Beard Show: Surf Party

This fun surf-themed family outing includes crafting, games, puppet shows, and surf rock music. Don’t miss the chance to cool off in the rainbow sprinklers! August 10, 2-4pm and August 25, 1-3pm

Vinyasa Yoga in the Park with Jala Studio

Immerse yourself in the beauty of nature with vinyasa yoga sessions on the east side lawn. These free classes incorporate meditation, breathing exercises, and fluid movements, providing a refreshing outdoor movement experience for all levels. Don’t forget to bring a mat or towel! Wednesdays, 5:30-6:30pm

West Side Flow with West Side Yoga

Join West Side Yoga for the grand finale of their summer series with a special class featuring live music. This free session invites everyone to enjoy a unique yoga experience. Pre-registration is encouraged. August 11, 6-7pm

Xylos and Marimbas in the Park

Musician Michelle Kaminsky invites everyone to play specially designed xylophones and marimbas at apop-up event encouraging collective music-making, bringing together novices and experienced musicians alike for a harmonious experience. August 8, 5-7pm
