It’s time to turn up the heat – when it comes to pizza, that is. Providence Coal Fired Pizza, with locations in Providence and North Kingstown, bakes pizzas (and so much more) in a unique, unforgettably delicious way.

The restaurants bring an Old World tradition to Rhode Island. Their ovens, which use anthracite coal, burn at 900°, which is much hotter than wood. The temperature bakes the dough at a very high heat, producing a crust that is firm on the outside, yet light and airy on the inside, with just a hint of char and a complexity of flavor that you won’t find at any ordinary pizzeria. Choose from pizzas like the Baby Bella (oyster mushrooms, truffle oil, ricotta and mozzarella cheeses), Clam (rosemary, fingerling potatoes, roasted red onions, pancetta, local clams and parmigiano reggiano) or The Steak (shaved steak, roasted onions, crimini mushrooms, hot peppers, provolone and Great Hill blue cheese).

In addition to their signature pizza – which, once you’ve had, you won’t be able to forget – Providence Coal Fired Pizza has an extensive menu, including wings, ribs, roasted vegetables, baked cheeses and dessert. Their Coal Fired Wings, prepared with rosemary, sea salt and roasted onions, are rendered in their coal oven with the skin crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. They have a grill-like flavor that cannot be duplicated elsewhere.

Sit at the pizza bar with a cocktail, and watch your pizza being made in the custom oven. Once you join them for lunch five times, the sixth is on them – just ask for a Lunch 5 card.
