Who needs a stage when front steps and picket fences set the scene? On Saturday, June 7, Providence Porchfest returns to the East Side, featuring more than 170 musical acts performing live from 12-6pm The neighborhood-wide festival invites the public to explore a walkable music trail along residential streets, with each stop offering a fresh sound and a new setting.

Now in its third year, the free community event showcases some of the region’s top talent. Featured performers include The Benji’s, Mark Cutler, Heidi Farmer, Lon E Plynton, Ryan Lee Crosby, the Rhode Island Men’s Gay Chorus, and many more. The full schedule, performer map, and route details are available online.

New this year, Food Trucks During Porchfest will bring local flavors to key gathering spots on Elmgrove Avenue and Sessions Street. Visitors can grab a bite between sets and are encouraged to support nearby businesses throughout the day.

The celebration continues into the evening with an unofficial afterparty at Narragansett Brewery. From 6-10pm, local funk band Funkademic will keep the momentum going with a high-energy set.

The Porchfest concept began in Ithaca, New York, in 2007 as a way for neighbors to share music from their front yards. Since then, more than 200 Porchfests have sprung up across the United States and Canada, and Providence has quickly emerged as a standout in the growing movement.

The event is free and open to all. Attendees are encouraged to walk, bike, or carpool to ease travel and help preserve the neighborhood atmosphere. More information about performers and route planning is available at ProvidencePorchfest.com.
