From South County, With Love

Waxing poetic about our fave region with Doors Open RI

Posted

We can fall as much in love with places as people – and, if we’re lucky, both at the same time. Rhody Love Notes was devised by the history-tour mavens at Doors Open RI, and all are welcome to submit an affectionate “letter” about a place we hold dear. Each location is pinned on a digital map, where you can read a loving description or anecdote.

“Rhody Love Notes seeks to inspire new perspectives on our state,” reads the project’s mission, “and foster belonging, curiosity, and local pride.”

Here’s what we might say: “South County, the pearl of our summers, the hearth of our winters, village within villages. May we always lose and find ourselves again in your forests; may your ocean always welcome us with breeze; may your rambling roads and rivers always guide us somewhere new. And in the foggiest times, may our way always be lit, like the waves at the foot of your lighthouses.”
