Through May 8: Catch the final performances of Sueño, adapted from Pedro Calderón de la Barca’s Life is a Dream by José Rivera, about an imprisoned prince caught between destiny and free will. Providence 

Through May 15: The Handicraft Club of Providence visited Blithewold last year to paint, draw, and sketch en plein air. See the results of both students and instructors in Impressions, an exhibition of their varied prints. Bristol

Through July 4: Presented by Hanart Culture, the Asian Lantern Spectacular returns to Roger Williams Park Zoo, celebrating 2,000 years of tradition in an illuminated journey through interactive displays and delicious cuisine. Providence

May 1

Celebrate the start of the local growing season at the Four Town Farm with a tour of their 150-acre asparagus farm. Enjoy themed dishes by chef-instructors from Johnson & Wales University. Seekonk

Runners up for the challenge can enter the Providence Marathon and race through the historic sites of downtown Providence. Free beer, live music, and a variety of vendors greet runners at the finish line.

The Giusto team partners with hospitality friends Yagi Noodles, TSK, Sup Dog Supper Club, and others for Restaurants For Relief, a culinary experience supporting humanitarian aid for Ukraine through World Central Kitchen. Newport

May 5-7: NYC-based comedian, writer, podcaster, and producer Luis J. Gomez – known for TV appearances on the likes of Last Comic Standing and Roast Battle – brings the laughs to  Comedy Connection. East Providence

Bring mom and the whole family to Mount Hope Farm for Spring Fest, a day of food and artisan vendors, crafts and activities for kids, a plant sale, live music by Bristol-based Jon Tyler, a raffle, and more. Bristol

Norman Bird Sanctuary hosts an hour-long guided workshop, Gardening for Wellness, on cultivating self-improvement with a green thumb, covering healthy produce, mindfulness, and horticulture design. Middletown

InDowncity kicks off the popular Open Air Saturdays this month with an outdoor stroll, inviting guests to enjoy all downtown has to offer with live music, beer gardens, marketplaces, games, food, and more. Providence

Vendors fill the Tiverton Middle School Gym for a special Mother’s Day Farmers Market. Shop a selection of flowers and herbs, pottery, planters, jewelry, gifts, and more while dining on tasty local eats.

May 10: Inkfish Books brings local author Ann Hood to Imago Gallery for an evening discussing and signing copies of her latest memoir, Fly Girl. A portion of proceeds will go toward organizations supporting Ukraine. Warren

May 13-15: You know warmer months are ahead when it’s time for the Misquamicut Spring Fest, a world-class carnival full of food trucks, games, vendors, magicians, car shows, and more. Westerly

May 14: Shaidzon Beer Co. hosts Shakedown Street, a Grateful Dead-themed evening of sipping tasty brews on tap while perusing handmade wares, presented by Field of Artisans. West Kingston

May 14-15: Grab a lawn chair and head over to Fort Adams State Park for the Newport Food Truck and Craft Beer Festival, featuring over 30 local food trucks, dozens of craft brewers, face painting, games, and more. Newport

May 15: The Wakefield Rotary’s Children's Festival takes place at the South County Museum and will feature tunes by Grammy Award-winner Bill Harley, pony rides, ice cream sundaes, and more. Proceeds benefit community charities. 

May 16

Music on the Farm, a four-week interactive adventure at Pat’s Pastured, kicks off. Led by Lindsay Meehan of Mary Ann Hall's Music for Children, it’s sure to entertain littles five and under and their grown-ups. East Greenwich

Multiple Grammy Award-winner Tori Amos comes to The VETS, touring with her 16th studio album, Ocean to Ocean, considered her most personal collection of songs since her career-defining Little Earthquakes. Providence

May 17-July 8: Immerse yourself in a three-dimensional experience of over 300 of Vincent Van Gogh’s masterpieces – from Starry Night to Sunflowers – at the global smash hit Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience. Providence

May 18: Casablanca, the 1942 film starring the dashing Humphrey Bogart and a luminous Ingrid Bergman, plays at the United Theatre as part of their Unwind Film Series screenings of classic movies. Westerly

May 20: Attention cheese heads and cider lovers! Head to Westerly for a cheese and cider pairing event at the Tapped Apple Cidery and Winery featuring hardcrafted, artisanal cheese from Mystic Cheese Company. Westerly

May 20-22: Don’t miss the signature drumming, colorful explosions, custom made instruments, and quirky comedy of Blue Man Group, the show that turned the three bald and blue men into an international phenomenon. Providence

May 21: Two iconic New England musicians, Pete Bernhard (of The Devil Makes Three) and MorganeEve Swain (RI’s own The Huntress and the Holder of Hands), come together for a special performance at Askew. Providence

May 21-22 

Local flower designers and artists exhibit their creative flair with original art works and floral design inspired by the 1810 historic house and gardens for Linden Place Mansion’s Art Blooming. Bristol

Sample some of New England’s signature seafood dishes at Newport Oyster and Chowder Festival. Over 40 Rhody oyster farms shuck beside local restaurants serving seafood and craft cocktails on Newport’s waterfront. 

May 24: The seminal rockabilly band The Reverend Horton Heat, joined by the psychobilly punk outfit Koffin Kats, bring their turbo-loaded mix of punk, surf, country, and rock and roll to Alchemy. Providence

May 26: Art Night Bristol Warren kicks off their 11th summer season, celebrating the towns’ creatives with a walkable tour of galleries, this month focusing on special exhibits along Main and Market Streets in Warren

May 28-30: Shop over 100 artisans, dine on craft fair eats, and hear live music at Pawtuxet Park for the annual Gaspee Days Arts & Crafts Festival, a long-time Memorial Day weekend tradition. Warwick

May 29: Bring your lawn chair and enjoy a sensory friendly concert from Narragansett Brass Quintet, featuring music spanning four centuries, kicking off this year’s Music on the Hill summer concert series. Warwick
