Join Us at the Rhode Island State House to Save Animals!

Posted by PhysiciansCommittee

Join us for a physician-led demonstration outside the Rhode Island State House!

House Bill 5357 would force Brown University to finally stop killing pigs in its emergency medicine program. Earlier this month, a group of physicians testified in support of the legislation. Now we need to show legislators that people want this bill to become law.

We'll meet on the sidewalk in front of the State House at 2:45 p.m.

Please find street parking or park at the Providence Place shopping mall.

Signs will be provided, and we will be there rain or shine.

To increase our impact, invite your friends and family within driving distance of Providence and ask them to join you at the demonstration.

Brown University kills pigs to teach a single procedure—even though that procedure (known as “surgical airway”) can be expertly taught using simulators. What’s more, 97% of emergency medicine programs across the United States and Canada do not use animals at all! But Brown and Rhode Island Hospital are fighting the bill—that’s why we need your help.

We hope to see you at there! Please RSVP on Facebook using the Event URL. If you have any questions, please contact Ryan Merkley at rmerkley@pcrm.org or 202-527-7336.
