2016 WBRU Rock Hunt Semifinals
This weekend, WBRU’s Rock Hunt holds the last of its semi-final competitions. On Friday, Dusk in Providence will host performances from Push Push Push, Dames and Under the Microscope. On Saturday, a “Wildcard Round” is being hosted at the Dirty Water pub in Bristol, and features the performances of The Kick Ups, Sidecar and Young Lincoln. Open Stage at Everett Company
Every month, Everett hosts Open Stage, an event where young performers are given the space to reveal their talents in front of a live audience. Each show features a headliner, and this month the amazing emcee, activist, hip hop educator and founder of Monstergodess Entertainment Medusah Black will be performing live. Audience members will also have an opportunity to sign up for one of the five minute performance slots before every show, giving all of the talented people out there a chance at their five minutes of fame. Do you appreciate the artists’ struggle to make a living selling their work? Do you appreciate local art, vintage items, and artist mills? If you have these specific interests, you might be interested in a caravan of the Etsy Mill Gypsies. The Etsy Mill Gypsies are a group of artists, makers and vintage dealers who travel throughout converted artist and retail mills in order to sell their wares. The caravan specifically travels throughout New England, and this weekend will be inhabiting Hope Artiste Village for a day of local food, music, performances and, best of all, top notch wares. To Kill a Mockingbird
at Trinity Rep

Trinity Repertory is hosting a season about “Rebels, Renegades and Pioneers,” a group of shows about individuals who stand up for truth in a world where the dominant culture stands against them. As part of this season, Trinity Rep is presenting the play To Kill a Mockingbird, a show that tackles issues of race, equality and justice. Born to be Wild at the Ocean Mist
Do you think that beach bars, a nature center and live music make for a good time? Ocean Mist thinks so, and quite frankly so should you. On Friday, the Ocean Mist beach bar is hosting a fundraising event for the Born to be Wild Nature Center, a nature center dedicated to helping sick, injured and abandoned animals before returning them safely to their natural habitat. This event will have live music provided by the Stone Cold Gypsies and Blackstrap Molasses. Attendees will also get to examine some of the nature center’s owls up close. Comedy Night at the Narrows Center
The Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River will be showcasing the talent of Kerri Louise, Kelly MacFarland and Mary Ellen Rinaldi. Louise has certainly be able to get audiences to laugh, appearing on Gotham Live and was a finalist in Last Comic Standing. MacFarland headlined the 2009 Boston Women in Comedy Festival and was also one of the top 100 comedians of the Last Comic Standing season nine.
