One of the perks of working for a magazine is free food. We are constantly reviewing restaurants and bars from all over the state so we can report our recommendations and tips to our readers. This summer has been no different. Here's a list of the most scrumptious things we've tasted.

What: Fish Tacos
Where: BLU on the Water
Can’t go to the Caribbean? Let the tropical flavors come to you in these whopping Baja Fish Tacos, whose white corn tortillas are stuffed with exotic mahi-mahi. We loved the way the mango salsa complemented the sriracha chili sauce and cheddar jack blend.

What: Keel Vodka
Where: Select locations
Keel is a premium light spirit – zero carbs, zero fat, zero protein and only 58 calories per 1.5-ounce pour. It also has a reduced ABV of 23.8%, almost half that of most vodkas. Keel is not light on taste, however, and its secret blend of natural flavors produces a smooth, refreshing drink that rivals other popular brands.

-----

What: Roasted Oysters
Where: Wilcox Tavern
These oysters are farmed in nearby Rhode Island waters and are served with sriracha-chorizo butter, Hawaiian sea salt and a cilantro-lime marinade. They were just slightly roasted so they curled a little, but still had just enough bite to them. The sea salt had a great minerality to it and the spiciness of the butter was cooled by the marinade. There was also a nice arugula salad on the plate. This dish is a perfect summer appetizer.

-----

What: New Fashioned
Where: Tazza
The New Fashioned is made with rye whiskey, orange bitters, muddled banana and a splash of soda. When's the last time you had a banana garnish?

-----

What: Vanilla Recoup Smoothie
Where: Body Natural Fitness
This light and creamy smoothie is a well blended combination of vanilla whey protein, vanilla Almond Breeze, peanut butter and banana. This 275 calorie smoothie reminds us of a vanilla milkshake without the regret.

-----

What: Crab Cakes
Where: 1149
1149’s crab cake is a wonderful seafood delicacy. This big cake comes chock-full of shredded crab, accompanied with a veggie flavor combo of peppers, onions and celery. Dip it in their spicy remoulade for a unique, zesty kick.

-----

What: Tomato Basil and Fresh Mozzarella Pizza
Where: The Bike Stop Cafe
The dough was flavorful and there was a nice crispness to it. The toppings were fresh and it was seasoned well. It was light but satisfying and just right for summer.

-----

What: The Bright Margarita
Where: Lola’s Tequila Bar & Cantina
The Bright Margarita has reposado tequila and pineapple, mango and pomegranate juice. It's just as delicious as it looks.

-----

What: Clam Cakes & Chowder
Where: Evelyn’s Drive In
The soup is savory, seasoned and perfect for dunking those clam cakes, which contain huge chunks of clam in a fluffy, light batter, making it a delicious fried “seafood pastry.”

-----

What: Grilled Salmon Salad
Where: Grille on Main
We loved this Grilled Salmon Salad. The fish mixed with the bright, citrusy zest of blood orange vinaigrette and smoked tomato jalapeño jam truly delighted our taste buds. There were so many smart touches, including the incorporation of goat cheese, avocado, black bean salsa and sweet cornbread croutons.

-----

What: Canestrelli Tartufati: Pan-seared sea scallops with fava beans over braised citrus fennel risotto
Where: Potenza’s Ristorante
This dish was fresh and light, a great choice for warmer weather from a legendary Rhode Island chef.

-----

What: Sons of Liberty Uprising American Whiskey
Where: Select locations
The company’s signature product and is crafted using stout beer. Mix it with North Providence’s Yacht Club Ginger Beer to make a Nor’Easter, one heck of a cocktail for a summer party.

-----

What: Twin Lobster Rolls
Where: Easton's Beach Snack Bar
With Easton’s Beach Snack Bar’s Twin Lobster Rolls, we got to meet one of the roll’s irresistible sidekicks: a sweet yet tangy mayo sauce, which lavishly enrobed the tender slices of lobster. All in all, these buttery, grilled rolls were the ideal balance of seafood and seasoning.
