Tell me about this outfit.
Anyone who knows me, knows that I have never met a black dress that I didn’t love. This outfit is comfortable, fun and easily adapts from sitting in meetings to chasing around kids, a dog and a husband when I get home. The dress is a soft knit that works equally well with layered jewelry and boots or with heels and a scarf. And, I love denim to dress down an outfit; I’m a big fan of mixing bold jewelry with casual pieces.

Speaking of jewelry, I love how you’ve combined these pieces. How do you decide how much is too much?
Oh, boy. I am the wrong girl to ask about too much jewelry. I love the look of stacking bracelets and have long been in love with statement necklaces. I am a big fan of local designer Loren Hope, who makes old-world glamour hip and fun. My necklaces and bracelets are from her collection and I literally love every piece she designs.

This is a perfect day-to-night look. How do you make an outfit work for both?
Working in the fun field of public relations, I have a lot of leeway with my wardrobe depending on what’s happening that day. I tend to wear a lot of dresses; if I’m going from work to a fun client event or out to dinner, it’s easy to put on heels, add funky jewelry and some red lipstick. I’m also lucky to work with a great group of fashionable ladies and together, we have all the components of a full salon in our office. Need your hair flat ironed? No problem. Need a makeover? No problem. Need a manicure? No problem.

This outfit definitely doesn’t say “working mom” to me. How do you stay fashionable and chase after your two young sons?

First, thank you! My priority is definitely my little guys, which doesn’t leave a lot of time to go shopping. I’ve never been someone who pays attention to fashion magazines, but I do know what I like and once I find something that I love, I stay true to it. I do almost all of my shopping online and my go-to sites are Dobbin Clothing – they make beautiful, well-made dresses in gorgeous fabrics. I’m also a big fan of J. McLaughlin dresses because they’re so much fun to wear, easy to wash at home and their maxis have great patterns. My biggest fashion advisor is my three-year-old son. Each morning, he walks into my closet and points out “pretty dresses.” He has excellent taste and I usually listen to him!
