Game Day

Your guide to the hottest Super Bowl parties in the Providence area

Posted

The Whiskey Republic:  This sports haven is throwing a huge Super Bowl XLVII bash with $1 burgers, $3 draft beers, a game day menu, beer towers, wing-eating contest at halftime, and a 120” projector giveaway. (Yes, 120”! ) Book your reservation before it fills up. For reservations, email Tanya@TheWhiskeyRepublic.com or call 588-5158.  515 S. Water St, Providence.

Dave & Buster’s: With a newly renovated sports bar, Dave & Buster’s is no longer just a grown-up arcade – it’s a sports destination.  The bar has numerous TVs, as well as a projector, and a new sprawling layout, so you’ll have room to enjoy the game.  22 oz. drafts start at $3.50 – and don’t forget about the game room. For reservations, call 270-4555.  40 Providence Place, Providence.

Wicked Good Bar and Grill:  This expansive sports bar with 35 TVs is located in Twin River Casino. They’ve got 17 draft beers on tap, including the Coors Light Super Cold Draft; Wicked Good is the only place you can get this cold brew in all of New England!  Military personnel always receive a 20% discount.  For reservations, call 475-8600.  100 Twin River Rd, Lincoln.

Snookers:  There’s a reason Snookers has been a sports bar staple in this town since 1989.  It has over 40 flat screen TVs, 15 pool tables, $5 sangrias, $2.50 Coors Lights, unique menu items such as spicy fried pickles and cheesy beer dip, and a striking décor of film memorabilia and industrial treasures.  For reservations call 351-7667. 53 Ashburton St, Providence.

Ladder 133: This renovated Douglas Avenue Fire Station is a sports bar with a sense of history.  Ladder 133 is best known for their comfort food, like beef satays and pulled pork nachos – just what you want on game day.  For XLVII, Ladder 133 will be promoting various food and drink specials and there will be a DJ if you’d rather dance than cheer.  For reservations, call 272-7427.  133 Douglas Avenue, Providence.

Spats:  Located right off of Thayer Street, this college favorite is the always popular at game time.  It’s got a nice balance of mellow seclusion with a hint of roughhouse (I’m one to appreciate a fair deal of balance).  Spats has numerous flat-screens, a projector, and draft specials, so you’ll enjoy the game even if it’s a blowout.  For reservations, call 437-8300.  182 Angell Street, Providence.

The Bradford:  For a more intimate game day setting, The Bradford has you covered.  Located on Federal Hill, their annual Super Bowl Bash will feature music, a celebrity bartender, giveaways and, of course, food. I suggest the meatballs and shoestrings and the arancini for an alternative to your usual football fare.  For reservations, call 432-7422.  42 Atwells Ave, Providence.

Pj’s Pub Cranston:  It may look small from the outside, but when you walk through the doors you’ll find a big party. There’s a reason this is a neighborhood favorite in Cranston: PJ’s always knows how to make everyone feel at home.  During the game they’ll be featuring $2 domestic drafts and a buffet at halftime.  383-5885, 1139 Pontiac Ave, Cranston.

Ri Ra Irish Pub:  A Super Bowl guide would not be complete without an Irish pub.  Ri Ra has a load of food and drink specials during the big game: $3 Bud light, Amstel, Heineken, and Guinness pints, $5 cocktails, and half-priced appetizers.  For every Guinness you purchase, you receive a raffle ticket, where prizes (plural!) are drawn after each quarter. Ri Ra is also equipped with a 120” HD Projector.  For reservations, call 272-1953.  50 Exchange Terrace, Providence.
