NEW URBAN ARTS’ 10TH ANNUAL Cardboard Pancakes Holiday Art Sale

Posted by NewUrbanArts01

Providence, RI — On Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 10am to 5pm, New Urban Arts (NUA) will host their 10th annual Cardboard Pancakes holiday sale at their studio at 705 Westminster Street. The event is free and open to the public. A portion of sales will benefit NUA’s afterschool and summer arts programs for Providence public high school students.

Quickly becoming a West End tradition, Cardboard Pancakes brings together an all-star crew of artists, craftspeople, and makers, including NUA current students and alumni. Locally-made art, crafts, prints, posters, cards, comics, zines, ceramics, jewelry, objects, curios, foodstuffs, and clothing are all available for purchase. Unique objects, must-have jewelry, one-of-a-kind presents, messy multiples, cheap art as well as fancy stuff—it will all be here! For more information, please visit our website at newurbanarts.org/events.

Cardboard Pancakes is the brainchild of New Urban Arts alum Emmy Bright and former NUA staff and board member Andrew Oesch. The event was started as a fundraiser for the organization. Oesch used to wrap every available NUA surface (walls, tables, and shelves) in brown craft paper so that the studio looked like “a giant cardboard world.”

Despite what the name implies, no pancakes—cardboard or otherwise—are served at the event. Maybe next year…
