New Life for NAVA

The beloved new and vintage boutique moves to Wickenden Street

Posted
The perfect destination for all things stylish and funky – clothes, home décor, accessories, gifts, you name it – has moved from Thayer to Wickenden Street, and with the move comes four times the floor space for four times the finds. Ali Burns-Nachwalter opened NAVA on Thayer around seven years ago after a lifelong passion for retail and vintage shopping. Now working with her friend Liz Kelley, Ali has worked to expand the store from its small space on Thayer to its current cozy location on Wickenden Street this past November.

NAVA specializes in clothes and items in a space and style that Liz describes as a “more rustic, Anthropologie vibe.” They carry both new and vintage apparel, accessories and shoes, as well as sunglasses, hats, purses, and plenty of hip and cute gifts and decorations – like stationery, journals, wallets, candles, bath products, cards and more. Women’s styles come in both new and vintage; men’s are only vintage. Their website details, “With a penchant for cowboy boots, funky and fancy dresses, silk scarves and gold jewelry, we try to have a little bit of everything so that no one leaves NAVA empty-handed.” The range of clothes goes from both colorful and playful to more classic and beautiful. The gift selection is sassy and fun, truly with something for everyone.

The adorable Wickenden storefront is decorated with old timey trunks, worn shelves, an inviting and chic crushed orange loveseat and plenty of cool, crafty wall decorations that Ali and Liz make themselves. The décor complements the rustic and trendy vibe of the shop and its wares. “You’ll find something here whether you want to find a gift last minute or something really nice for your apartment,” says Liz. “We have a great price range – we’re trying to make it affordable for everyone but also to have really great things that are comparable to higher end stores.”

Ali and Liz also host a number of cool workshops and events to get the community involved and make NAVA not just a store, but a great place to come together and meet people for a good time. They just hosted a paper flower workshop and hope to have a succulent plant pot-painting workshop later this summer. Be on the lookout for NAVA’s trunk shows as well. Check their website for information on upcoming events and workshops, and expanding on-line shopping features.
