May 23: Join in on the"Remembering Rocky Point" Opening Reception where original Rocky Point artifacts will be exhibited. Taking place from 6-7:30 PM, anyone who knew Rocky Point in its working days would love this event!

May 23: It's the first basin lighting of the season for WaterFire. Gather by Skyline at Waterplace for the sunset ceremony.

May 24-27:The Boots on the Ground For Heroes Memorialwill place 7,000 boots with name placards and American flags within Roger Williams Park, in memory of fallen Rhode Islanders. A patriotic concert by the 88th Army Band RI National Guard will follow, and the evening will complete with a patriotic laser light show.

May 25-26: Check out Downtown Westerly's 23rd Annual Virtu Art Festival at Wilcox Park and be delighted by the work of local artists, makers, and performers in this celebration of the visual and performing arts.

May 25-26: Enjoy spring in full bloom in Little Compton with Sakonnet Garden Open Days, showcasing various spring flora such as rhododendrons, azaleas, trilliums, and tulips.

May 25-27: Get festive outdoors during the Gaspee Days Arts & Crafts Festival in Warwick, a long-running tradition and free, family friendly event showcasing over 100 artists and community groups alongside craft fair eateries and live music.

May 26, 28, 31:Hop aboard a narrated cruise ship on a Rhode Island Bay Cruise for a sight-seeing adventure of historic lighthouses, the Newport and Jamestown Bridges, and a variety of famous sites.

May 26: Head over the annual Jazz by the Sea at the Dunes Club in Narragansett, supporting scholarships for music students in the South Kingstown school district, and enjoy a night of dining, drinks, a silent auction and an instrumental jazz ensemble brought to you by South Kingstown High School.

May 26: Take in the open skies at the Weekapaug Inn’s third annual Kite Fly-Inn, with an array of colorful kites, kite decorating, summer eats, lawn games, live music, and more.

 

Memorial Day Parades Across RI

May 26: Charlestown Cross’ Mills Memorial Day Parade begins at 1pm, starting at Ridgewood Road and Old Post Road, and traveling to King Tom Drive, followed by a ceremony at Ninigret Park along with refreshments and a concert.

May 27: Barrington Memorial Day Parade steps off at 10:30am, starting on Park Avenue and ending at Evergreen Cemetery.

May 27: East Greenwich Memorial Day Parade begins at 10am, kicking off from Academy Field the Hill District by way of Mawney Street, continuing to First Avenue (Rt.401) for a brief wreath-laying ceremony at the World War II Memorial on Cliff Street, then proceeds north on Main St. for closing ceremonies at Town Hall at 11am. The event also include local music and marching bands, militia and law enforcement groups, classic cars, a wreath-laying ceremony and a flyover by the 143 Airlift Wings.

May 27: Glocester Annual Memorial Day Parade kicks off at 10:30am, where local veterans march along Main St. (Route 44) in historic Chepachet village to honor America’s war heroes, followed by ceremonies at Town Hall.

May 27: Jamestown Memorial Day Parade, taking place on Watson Ave, North Main Road, Narragansett Ave, and Lawn Ave.

May 27: Lincoln Memorial Day Parade begins at 11am, with a parade route through Higginson Avenue, Walker Street, Chapel Street, Great Road, and ending at Chase Farm.

May 27: North Kingstown Memorial Day Parade begins at 10am with participants parading from Wilson Park to the Grand Army of the Republic Memorial at Elm Grove Ceremony for the closing. The day’s celebrations include wreath-laying ceremonies at the Civil War Memorial on the grounds of Town Hall and Veterans Memorial Park.

May 27: North Providence 11th Annual Memorial Day Parade and Celebration begins 1pm, starting at North Providence High School and ending at Governor John A. Notte, Jr. Park with a celebration with food, music, and fun.

May 27: South Kingstown Memorial Day Parade begins at 10am, starting on Holly Street, traveling down Main Street and ending at Saugatucket Park, with a ceremony to follow at the memorial.

May 27: Westerly/Pawcatuck Veterans’ Memorial Day Parade begins at 9:30am, starting in Pawcatuck, CT, and ending in Westerly’s Wilcox Park, and is also one of the oldest parade celebrations in the country.
