Marc Allen Fine Clothiers

Differentiate yourself from the crowd

“Menswear is the one retail industry that continues to grow,” declares Marc Streisand, owner of Marc Allen Fine Clothiers. “Womenswear has taken a hit and every classic retail store is downsizing; we’re expanding.” The jocular owner attributes part of his success to the ability to be nimble in the face of an ever-changing world plus providing the best customer service by knowing his client base at an individual level. How nimble? The recently declared troubles of the shipping company Hanjin threw Italian clothing manufacturers into a bind as their fabrics were stranded outside ports. “One of our shipments coming from Italy is stuck on this ship and we know we’re not going to get it, so we’re going to Fall River and designing our own shirts,” Marc explains. His good relationships with textile manufacturers in Canada, Fall River and New York City have allowed him to shift gears and get new lines in quickly for the upcoming season.

One area Marc has seen extreme growth in his business is in the MA made-to-measure line, which provides top quality garments at an accessible price point. Style manager Colin Ward mentions that he believes since the launch of MA two years ago sales are up 4,000%. “It’s for the young professional who is starting to make his mark in his career,” Marc mentions. “Someone who has had some successes and knows that he wants to differentiate himself from everybody else.”

The master tailors at Marc Allen who orchestrate the made-to-measure and bespoke handiwork are sometimes tapped to solve other tailor’s problems. Colin pointed out a top-of-the-line Kiton worsted wool suit purchased at Neiman Marcus that they are fixing, at a great expense, because it wasn’t properly built. The best thing to do is avoid that problem altogether at step one and get fully measured and taken care of at Marc Allen. This shop is the epitome of a dynamic boutique with a curated selection and many items secured with individual client’s tastes in mind. Stop into Marc Allen today to help right your fashion course and stand out in the world.
