With so many college students calling Providence home and then subsequently leaving for the summer months, it’s no wonder that countless bikes are left abandoned in basements or backyards, victims of vegetative overgrowth, spiders and disuse. Vintage Bikes RI, however, seeks to put an end to this vicious bike-killing cycle by “renewing vintage and unique bicycles and bringing them back into the public marketplace for rideable enjoyment.” And since the company cherishes what they call the “adventure of the treasure hunt,” they’re using a mobile bike truck named Curbside reCycles to scour the state for bikes begging for a second chance. Vintage Bikes RI offers restoration services (for anyone looking to revitalize their bike), accessory offerings (for some bike TLC), and of course sales (to score yourself a sexy “new” vintage bike). Whether you want to get rid of that ancient bike taking up space in the garage, or crave an astonishing piece of bike history, keep an eye out for Vintage Bike RI’s Curbside reCycles truck. 523-5321
