Cutting edge performing and visual arts in the Creative Capital

Posted

Support local, regional and national artists and take advantage of the chance to see one-of-a-kind performances from over 50 artists at the 2015 Providence Fringe Festival. Presented by the Wilbury Theatre Group in collaboration with URI Providence, the five-day event from July 21-25 features a range of shows from contemporary performing and visual artists selected at random. The application is open to all artists, so the festival presents a truly creative, innovative and open space for artistic expression of all kinds. The festival takes place across a number of venues, from the AS220 Black Box Theater to the Mathewson Street Theater to URI Providence Campus and more. Most shows range from about 40-60 minutes in length, so you definitely have time (and are encouraged!) to see multiple shows every night. Tickets range from $5-$10, are available at the door and 100% of all ticket sales go to the performing artists. On Saturday July 25, there’s also Family Fringe at Peace and Plenty Park, featuring kid-friendly performances from fringe artists and more. Check out the website for more information on fringe festivals, a list of this year’s participating artists and a schedule of events. Don’t miss this excellent opportunity to engage in the global community and dialogue surrounding the cutting-edge performing and visual arts – or just to see something you wouldn’t ordinarily see. www.fringepvd.org
