Elliot's Ride For Everyone

Posted by ClareWoodhead

Join Bike Newport and hundreds of fellow bicyclists as we ride Newport's coastline!

Presented by P3GM Newport Bikeshare Solutions, Elliot's Ride for Everyone is an invitation to EVERYONE, of every age and every level of bicycle experience, to come out and ride and experience the joy of biking along Newport's picturesque coastline while celebrating the importance of safe road sharing.

Registration is FREE! Donations of all sizes, big or small, are encouraged and deeply appreciated. Your contribution will support Bicycle Safety Education programs run jointly by Bike Newport, RI and the Newport County YMCA. Donations can be made when registering on Eventbrite.

Elliot's Ride offers routes of 6, 10 and 22 miles. Choose the distance that matches their comfort and ability. Bike Newport marshals will support all rides and the Newport Police will provide escort along the 6-mile route to keep the ride rolling safely and smoothly.

In addition to the ride, the kids' “Tour de Fort”, sponsored by the RIDOT Highway Safety Department, is a special area of activities dedicated to kids and bicycles, safety and fun. Inside historic Fort Adams the kids will have their own ride. 3 times around the parade route = 1 mile! Bike Newport's team of instructors and volunteers will help kids and their grown-ups with bike checkups, helmet fitting, on-bike skills and riding fun.

For those who prefer two feet to two wheels, there is a 2-mile Bay Walk around the scenic grounds of Fort Adams State Park, offering magnificent views of Narragansett Bay and Newport Harbor.

There will also be plenty of refreshments, music, yoga and other activities.

Elliot's Ride for Everyone is held in memory of Dr. Elliot Kaminitz and is the day for everyone to claim a safe place on the road and to enjoy the beauty of Newport together, outside, in an active celebration of safe roads and wellness.

Proceeds from this event will support Bicycle Safety Education programs at Bike Newport and the Newport County YMCA.

This is a rain or shine event. Helmets are required for all bicyclists. For more information, visit www.ElliotsRide.org or call Bike Newport at 401-619-4900.
