Bourbon, sugar, ice and mint. These four simple ingredients have been front and center since 1938 when Churchill Downs declared the mint julep to be the official drink of the Kentucky Derby. Since then, the mint julep has appeared in many forms, like this one from the Statesman Tavern in Bristol, prepared with Buffalo Trace Bourbon from Kentucky.
