Eat Drink RI To Host Its Central Market Preview

Foodies, prepare to be excited. Eat Drink RI is creating a central culinary market and food hub that celebrates Rhode Island’s local agriculture, aquaculture and food and drink businesses. Though this plan is just in its beginning stages, we have the opportunity to show our support for the public market this weekend at the Central Market Preview.

Eat Drink RI’s Central Market Preview will be held at its future home, the former location of the Shooters Nightclub at 25 India Street. From 2-6pm on Saturday, August 6, the public is invited to the waterfront location to purchase items directly from local food and drink businesses. Not only will you have the opportunity to gorge yourself with delicacies from El Rancho Grande, Yacht Club Soda, The Backyard Food Company and more, but you will also be among the first people to see the concept drawings of the market, designed by Providence’s Union Studio Architecture & Community Design.

The Central Market will serve as a major tourist destination in Providence as a retail and events center, and “nucleus” for the local food economy in Rhode Island. With hopes to secure the waterfront location that was formerly Shooters, it would offer visitors sweeping views of the Providence River/Narragansett Bay while being perfectly visible and accessible to the public.
