7 Ways to Spend Your Saint Patrick's Day Weekend in RI

Whether you plan on celebrating Saint Pat’s by wearing green, showing off your Irish pride, or drinking plenty of beer there are plenty of events for you this weekend. We’ve chosen a couple of our favorites to make sure you're having the time of your life this Saint Patrick's Day.

For a weekend-long party head to Tammany Hall. Opening on Friday morning, there will be corned beef, plenty of swag and thousands of dollars given away in raffle prizes. Oh, and did we mention? Plenty of bagpipes. 409 Atwells Avenue, Providence. 831-3180.

On Friday the 17 Rogue Island will host a Saint Patrick’s Day party with Longtrail and Otter Creek brewing companies. There will be a full Irish menu and plenty of brews, so you know this is sure to be a great time. Reservations required. 65 Weybosset Street, Suite 108, Providence. 831-3733

The Whiskey Republic is holding a day-long St. Patrick’s Day Party on March 17 with tons of giveaways, live music and of course, beer. There will be an Irish breakfast, along with a special menu all day. WBRU will also be around for a bit to add to the fun. 515 South Water Street, Providence. 588-5158.

Get hyped at the St. Patrick’s Day Punk Show at Dusk on Friday evening. Performing bands include Zero Holds, Karis Owen, Varsity Club and Downtown at Dawn. The night will be full of some good drinks, and a whole lot of rock and roll. 301 Harris Avenue, Providence. 714-0444.

Try something different this Saint Patrick’s Day.  Visit the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly for a night of “Ghosts, Saints and Faeries.” Listen to stories, poems and songs that celebrate Irish heritage and tell haunting tales from the past. Feast on stories like the tale of an Irish woman being hanged as a witch for speaking Gaelic, or partake in a discussion of what it means to be a saint. 7 Canal Street, Westerly. 596-2221.

The Guinness Tour De Patrick is a huge event of three road races to help you run off all of those green beer calories in advance of the parades. One has already passed, but The St. Pat’s 5k happens in Providence on March 18. The Shamrock Shuffle 5k happens in North Kingstown on March 25. Providence and North Kingstown.

The Providence St. Patrick’s Day Parade is happening through the city’s Smith Hill neighborhood on March 18, with festive floats and all of the green beer you can drink. Smith Hill, Providence.
