6 Ways to Be Inspired at Design Week RI

Posted

Design Week RI , the annual showcase and celebration of design in Rhode Island, returns September 13-24. With 12 days of design and 55+ events around the state, there are so many ways to engage with the design community. Here are six ways to take in the impressive week of events.

1. Meet RI’s Top Designers

Throughout the week, designers present their work, successes, challenges and inspiration at events that let you mix and mingle and then – sit back and listen. Check out the Speakers series for events like the “Designing Our Cities” breakfast panel or Marathon Clambake, where designers and enthusiasts “stew the pot” with stories shared by four design professionals.

2.
Mix design with drinks and food

Some of the leading design businesses in Rhode Island – such as  KITE, Mojo Tech and Focal Upright – will be hosting Eat & Speak lunches and Happy Hours at their locations. Design, drinks and food – what more do you need?

3. Visit inspiring locations around RI

While Providence is filled with design, Design Week RI highlights design across the state from Hopkinton to Cumberland. You could even spend the day in Newport at places like IYRS, Rough Point and the Newport Art Museum.

4.
Broaden your definition of Design

Learn how design influences a range of industries at not-to-be-missed events with (add)ventures/CVS, Ximedica and Business Innovation Factory.

5.
 Party with the design community

Celebrate the state’s top designers at the annual RI Design Hall of Fame Awards at the new WaterFire Arts Center or enjoy an interactive and experiential extravaganza at the  Kick-Off Party at The Plant in Olneyville.

6. Go Out and Play

Put creativity in motion with events like the RIASLA Blackstone Valley Bike Path Tour and AIAri’s Scavenger Hunt.
